An Enfield brook has flooded the gardens of homes nearby as the adverse weather hits the borough.

The Turkey Brook in Enfield has caused problems for residents in Turkey Street as a result of prolonged heavy rain.

June Brown, who has lived in the street since the 1960s, can only recall one other occasion that the brook has been this bad.

She said: “It came up the first step in my front garden. The only time it has been worse was in 2000 when my whole garden flooded.

“This is an issue for us as it had flooded several times and the front entrance is our only way of escape. That means if there was a fire or an emergency, we would have to go through the flooded area to get out.”
