An Edmonton man has been banned from parts of Haringey after being found guilty of possession of cannabis.

Mohamed Ali, 18, of Cheddington Road, Edmonton, was given an ASBO barring him from entering Bruce Grove in Haringey for two years.

Mr Ali pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of cannabis at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on Thursday, January 23.

Ali was drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis in public places and intimidating residents, the court heard.

He was sentenced to a 12-month community order with a year’s supervision running concurrently.

Sergeant Nick Tungatt said: “The residents of Bruce Grove, Forest Gardens and Woodside Gardens have been intimidated for too long and this post-conviction ASBO shows that we will not stand by and let those who blight our community with anti-social behaviour continue with their actions.

“We will continue to work with residents to prevent any future anti-social behaviour and would encourage our residents to contact us over their concerns."
