Nature trail signs, English classes for Bangladeshi communities and money for an internet radio station are among more than £60,000 given to community projects in the borough this month.
At an Enfield Borough Council meeting last week, 14 projects were granted funding as part of the Enfield Residents Priority Fund.
- The projects include:
- Provision of a refuse freighter in Bowes to collect bulky waste items
- Installation of nature trial signage in Trent Park
- Installation of CCTV in Ponders End
- Provision of English and maths classes for Bangladeshi communities in Ponders End
- Gift for Friends; an Employment opportunity for residents with learning difficulties
- Funding to set up an internet radio station based at the Montagu Hub
- Edmonton Eagles Boxing club to provide boxing and sports sessions for local families
- Alley gating in Turkey Street
- Support for an arts trail and studio opening in Winchmore Hill and Southgate
Councillor Bambos Charalambous, Enfield Council’s cabinet member for culture, leisure, youth and localism said: “2014 has begun with a whole new raft of fantastic Enfield Residents Priority Fund projects.
“The Fund continues to go from strength to strength, and last week’s meeting confirmed that £64,985 worth of projects are going to go ahead and be funded thanks to the continued success of the ERPF”
The total now granted by the fund in the last year is now £1.4million.
