Keeping its customers satisfied has earned an Edmonton restaurant a prize at the British Kebab Awards.

Authentic Turkish restaurant Capital, in Fore Street, Edmonton was awarded the 'highly commended' prize on Wednesday, January 15, much to the delight of owner Mehmet Demir.

He said: “We won a similar award last year but did not expect to win another, it was a surprise. We feel honoured that our customers have voted for us in this award, it means a lot.”

The family owned restaurant has been in Edmonton for eight years and has branched out in Wood Green and Hammersmith.

Mr Demir added: “We try to provide sufficient peace and quiet and make sure that our customers are showcased the diverse cultures of Turkish food.”

Taufiq Salud, of Church Street, Edmonton, often visits the restaurant and said: “I can see why this restaurant has won its second award, the food is fantastic and there is such a lovely atmosphere created by the staff who work here.”

Edmonton MP Andy Love also voted for the restaurant and said: “We’re lucky in Edmonton to have such a choice of kebab restaurants but my vote has to go to Capital – it’s just down the road from my office, is family-run and the food is second to none.

“They really deserved to get an award so I’m thrilled that they were rated so highly for customer satisfaction.”
