New figures have revealed that one in every 48 households in Enfield is at risk of repossession.

Statistics from homeless charity Shelter, reveal that Enfield has the ninth highest rate of possession claims in the whole country.

Between October 2012 and September 2013, 2,520 local mortgage and landlord possession claims were issued in court.

Based on recorded court proceedings, the figures show that the one in 48 chance of losing a home in the borough is more than double the chances of the national average of one in every 105 households.

Edmonton MP Andy Love said: “These figures from Shelter are a stark reminder that a considerable number of people in Enfield are only a step or two away from losing their homes and that homelessness can happen to anyone.”
