Enfield Council has announced plans to freeze council tax for the fifth year in succession.

A budget consultation has also been launched so people can have their say on what they think the council’s spending priorities should be for 2013/14.

The authority achieved record levels of satisfaction last year with 72 per cent of people saying the quality of services provided by the council was good or very good and 71 per cent saying they were satisfied with the way the borough was run.

Councillor Andrew Stafford, cabinet member for finance and property, said: “It is vital that local people take part in the budget consultation. Their views are important to us and will help guide us when we make the important choices about where funding will be allocated next year.

“We are committed to protecting services as much as possible, but some difficult decisions will have to be made, so it is now over to residents to tell us what they think and how they believe we might be able to make additional savings.”
