A centre which helps people with a range of serious illnesses has celebrated its tenth anniversary.

The Lancaster Centre in Lancaster Road, Enfield, was set up in 2003 by five organisations all helping support people with different illnesses.

The Nightingale Cancer Support Centre, the Alzheimer’s Society and Enfield’s Mental Health Unit are all based at the centre.

In its ten-year history, the centre was badly damaged by a fire in the next door building.

Voluntary centre manager Tim Fellow said: “Time has gone so quickly, I cannot believe we are celebrating ten years of working together.  All charities work in harmony supporting the local community.  This is truly a great achievement which we hope will continue for many years to come.”
