Young patients at an Enfield hospital were given some early Christmas cheer by a local supermarket.

Children at North Middlesex University Hospital in Sterling Way, Edmonton, received treats from ASDA as part of their campaign to help the local community.

Those being treated at the hospital’s Rainbow Ward were given toys, hampers packed with festive goodies to the delight of their families.

Muna Abdurahaman, mother of one-year-old Imran Saeed, who is a patient on the ward, said: "It is a brilliant idea. It makes the children in hospital so happy. Imran is really pleased to have this gift and I’m excited for him too. Thank you to Asda."

North Middlesex University Hospital chief executive Julie Lowe added: "Christmas can be a particularly stressful and worrying time for children and their families, who have to stay in hospital.

“On behalf of the hospital I would like to thank Asda and each of the local organisations that have visited us this Christmas and provided gifts to our patients."
