In September, Shop owners in Enfield Town were hopeful that a new supermarket on the site of a former music shop could save Enfield's high street from extinction.

The HMV branch that traded in Church Street, Enfield Town for more than 35 years closed in February and now houses a Morrisons local.

More than 40 flowers and dozens of tributes were left at the spot where the car of  24-year-old Adem Mehmet collided with an out of service bus on The Ridgeway, Enfield.

Two men were shot at a BP petrol station in Chase Side, Southgate, leading residents to raise concerns about the area.

Mr Thewandi, who has lived in the area for 45 years, described the shooting as "very concerning", adding: "When I first came to the country this was a very welcoming and homely town but a lot has changed since then, that is for certain.”

Admir Bregaj, 26, of no fixed abode, was jailed for 23 years in December for three counts of attempted murder and one count of possessing a gun. 

Also in September, the Mayor of London described his visit to an Enfield College as “eye-opening” as he unveiled a new animal centre.

Boris Johnson opened the new site at Capel Manor College in Bullsmoor Lane, Enfield, in front of hundreds of students on their first day back at college.

The fight to save Chase Farm hospital's A&E and maternity units reached its climax in September as Enfield Clinical Commissioning Group agreed a date to downgrade its key services.

The CCG set November 21, and December 9, 2013 as the dates that the services would close.

IT was also announced that the former Middlesex University campus in Cat Hill will undergo renovation in 2014 into flats, infuriating many who live nearby.
