A memorial event next weekend will mark the anniversary of the deaths of three teenagers in a car crash on the A10.

Jack Boyton, and Harry Ferrand, both 17, of the Elsinge estate, Bullsmoor and Ashley Jones, 19, of Canvey Island, Essex, crashed into a parked lorry on the A10 near Hoddesdon in Cheshunt on November 9 last year.

The event is expected to attract hundreds of people to the estate where Jack’s Café stands, opened by Jack's mother Sarah Boyton in memory of her son in May.

There will be raffles, rides and live music on Friday, November 8, in honour of the trio.

Mrs Boyton said: “The cafe has been so popular since it opened five months ago, we have even had people visit from Australia and more than 1,000 followers on Facebook, it’s overwhelming.

“This is going to be massive day and we hope to see a lot of people come along and celebrate the lives of the boys.”

Mrs Boyton added: “It’s unbelievable to think it has nearly been a whole year since Jack passed. I don’t think I will ever be able to come to terms with what happened.

“Opening the cafe in his name has got me through somewhat; knowing I am doing this in his memory has kept me going. Jack was such a popular boy as they all were; he loved playing football and had just been offered a job.”

In addition to helping set up the cafe, friends of the teenagers have now started a football team, Elsinge FC, in their memory.

Mrs Boyton added: “It is fantastic that they have set up a team and they will have Jack’s Cafe on the front of their shirts which is a lovely touch.”

The event will start at 3pm and continue until late evening.
