Plans to redevelop an Edmonton temple were withdrawn from an Enfield Council planning committee last night
Controversial plans to redevelop an Edmonton temple were withdrawn at an Enfield Borough Council planning committee meeting last night.
The Hindu Tamil Cultural Association (HTCA) had put forward plans to drastically revamp their current temple with a £4million makeover.
This would see an upgrade to facilities on the inside as well as an entirely new front entrance with an ornate monumental tower called a gopuram, standing nine meters tall.
However, fears had been raised by those who neighbour the temple, sighting noise pollution and traffic problems as the main cause for concern.
The reasons for the HTCA withdrawing their proposals are yet to be disclosed.
