Concerns have been raised about the proposed expansions of Tottenham Hotspur's training ground car parking spaces
Tottenham Hotspur could be granted permission to expand their training ground’s car park at a planning meeting tonight.
Enfield Borough Council will decide whether to grant the football club extra spaces at their base in Hotspur Way, Enfield.
In a planning committee report, recommendations are made to grant the proposals of expanding the existing car park to 147 spaces and include a provision for a further 126 spaces.
This is something which has angered local Barbara Gare who feels that this will be consuming more of the green belt.
She said: “This will eat even more into our green belt and significantly increase traffic on roads which cannot sustain it.
“They are gradually taking more and more of the green space, something which is very hard to come by in London. I don’t think anyone locally wanted to lose that patch of land in the first place when the training ground was built.”
Despite fears that this will impede on green belt land, the report suggests that: “proposed development is considered to not have any significant harm on the openness of the surrounding Green Belt or on the character and setting of the surrounding Conservation Area.”
