A mental health hospital in Edmonton has won the Independent Mental Health Provider of the year for 2013
Providing work experience for patients has helped a psychiatric hospital win a national award.
North London Clinic (NLC) in Church Street, Edmonton, was crowned the Independent Mental Health Provider of the Year 2013 on October 8.
Part of independent providers Partnership in Care (PiC), the clinic won the award for presenting work placements for its patients in a programme now used in 23 other PiC hospitals in the UK.
The clinic in Edmonton is a 56-bed secure and rehabilitation psychiatric hospital working with men with mental illness or personality disorder.
Staff at the NLC were also finalists in the award’s management excellence category for outstanding leadership and staff engagement.
Chief executive Joy Chamberlain said: "We congratulate the North London Clinic team for both the RWO work and its nomination for both leadership and effective staff engagement.
“At PiC we are committed to improving experience, choice, quality of life and outcomes for patients; we employ expert clinicians and occupational therapists; we create meaningful engagement and real work opportunities for patients during their stay with us as well as a varied and flexible activity programme which all helps with recovery and to prepare patients for a life outside of hospital.”
