Enfield Borough Council to host public meeting on smells from Deephams Sewage Plant in Edmonton
Residents will get the chance to vent their opinion on the stench at Deephams Sewage Plant in a public meeting to be held this month.
A petition of more than 4,000 signatures is in circulation, with the major issue the smells emanating from the plant.
The plant in Edmonton is due to be upgraded so it can deal with rising amounts of sewage, and the public forum is a chance to lobby the council to act as a voice for residents in negotiations with Thames Water.
Enfield Council's cabinet member for environment, Cllr Chris Bond, said: "Thames Water is embarking on a major upgrade of the Deephams Sewage plant and residents have made it clear to us that they don’t like the nasty smell the site produces.”
Enfield Council’s overview and scrutiny committee will host the forum at Green Towers Community Centre in Plevna Road, Edmonton on Thursday, October 17 at 7.30pm.
