Enfield Town centre to hold older people's day
Health checks and advice on staying warm this winter are available as part of a free event to mark Older People’s Day next week.
Gearing up for winter, a taster tai-chi session and volunteering opportunities will all be showcased at the Dugdale Centre in London Road, Enfield Town, on Friday, October 4.
The event is free and no registration will be necessary. Visitors can receive a health check, advice on keeping the home warmer through the winter months, leisure activities and making a will.
Councillor Don McGowan, Enfield Council’s cabinet member for adult services, care and health, said: “We want to tell older people about the services and options open to them in Enfield Getting older is not just about health and care – although this is important. We want to show older people how they can maintain good health; enjoy exercise and leisure pursuits and of course have some fun.
“The day offers an exciting programme with free health checks; legal advice sessions; how to get involved in community activities and many stallholders will be joining us to explain what they have to offer. This will be a great day for all our older residents – they will be in control.”
