Enfield pharmacy's window smashed by car
Everyone likes to park as close as they can to the shops, however one person took this far too literally.
Lloyd’s chemist in Florey Square, Enfield, had an unexpected visitor on Friday, September 6, when a car smashed through its front window and into the shop at around 2.40pm.
The car hurtled through the shop and pushed back the serving counter. Fortunately no one sustained any major injuries.
However, on duty store manager Roger Wray believes that more can be done to prevent such incidents from happening again.
He said: “This is the third time something similar has happened in the past few years. There are no bollards outside the pharmacy to stop cars from coming into through the shop.
“I was consulting a patient in the office when I heard the smash. I originally thought something heavy had fallen off the shelf but when I looked out it was a car coming through the glass window and straight towards the counter.
"Thankfully the only two people in the shop at the time were at on the other side and no one was seriously injured.”
The store will now undergo refurbishments to the damaged counter and smashed front window pane which has been boarded up.
