Tap dancing trio selected for England
Kamira Samuel, Jordan Crouch and Olivia Sinclair have all been called up to the England tap dancing team
Three talented tap dancers have been selected to represent England at the tap dance World Championships.
Kamira Samuel, 14, Olivia Sinclair, 15 and Jordan Crouch, 16 all from Enfield will have the chance to tap dance for their country at the World Tap Dancing Championships in Germany.
However, with no subsidised funding, the trio will have to raise around £400 each for coach journeys and accommodation at the championships and have arranged fundraising events.
The trio will be hosting a tea party this weekend and a bag pack at a local supermarket in November in order to reach their target before getting the coach to Germany on December 1.
Nonetheless the three tap dancers are all gearing up for their week in Riesa and are already practicing their final pieces for the tournament.
Olivia Sinclair said: “I’m really looking forward to my solo, we have all been learning our pieces for a few months now, its really intense.”
All three dancers were exciting by the atmosphere surrounding a major tournament, with the international vibe being one of the most eagerly anticipated parts of the championships.
The 15-year-old said: “It doesn’t matter how nice the hotel is, the atmosphere will be great, that is going to be really fun.”
Kamira Samuel said: “I’m really excited to be competing for the first time at the world championships.”
The England team is run by tap dancing group Tap Attack, and will be made up of 35 junior and senior dancers.
Success has been a regular fixture at the World Championships for England, with two gold medals in 2010 and a gold medal last year.
