Overturned car and Peugeot blaze bring M25 to standstill at Enfield and Potters Bar
The M25 has been brought to a near standstill by two incidents at Potters Bar and Enfield.
A car overturned after colliding with a lorry on the anti-clockwise carriageway shortly before 11am at junction 24 (Potters Bar).
One lane remains closed while the vehicle is removed from the motorway and queues were stretching back to junction 27.
As traffic piled up in the build up to the scene, a red Peugeot 206 caught fire in the middle lane before junction 26 at Enfield, filling the car with smoke.
Traffic cameras captured footage of the blazing car as other vehicles edged past.
It is not yet known if anyone was injured in either incident but traffic has been brought to a standstill anti-clockwise.
Lisa Ashdown tweeted: “Stuck on M25 between j24 and 25, something major seems to have happened, lots of smoke and fire engines.”
Katherine Loe also wrote on the micro-blogging site: “M25 car overturned and another car on fire. Haven't even made it one junction yet! #m25 #j26.”
