Low turnout "disappointing" for Enfield Carnival
Organisers of the Enfield carnival have admitted they were was disappointed by turnout at the event.
There had been fears the event would not take place due to the closure of the Brimsdown Sports and Social Club grounds in Goldsdown Road, Enfield last Thursday.
The carnival went ahead as planned after the gates were re-opened, but carnival chairman John Ashton, said he was underwhelmed by the audience at the carnival on Saturday which was only estimated to be 20 people.
He said: “The event was very poorly attended and that’s a real shame. We still had the parade take place but when it reached the fete, people did not seem interested.
“I blame the lack of publicity and the lack of preparation time we had thanks to this gate issue. We will start planning for next year and hope that everything can get back on track. I thank everyone that turned out for support and we managed to raise £101 for local voluntary first aid charity.”
