The winners of the Bushey Museum and Festival Photographic Competition have been announced, with the winning photos being displayed at Bushey Museum.

This year, 74 prints will be displayed in the exhibition, including six commended entries, two highly commended, and the eventual winner, Anne Parry, for her striking image of a reflection of houses in a Rockport lamp.

The Bushey category was won by Terry Williams for his enchanting picture, Sledging in Attenborough Fields, which depicts people having fun on a snowy hill in the winter. He also won the Gawan Vesey Cup for the best Bushey entry by a newcomer to the competition.

A new category for images taken using a mobile phone was introduced this year, the quality of which organisers have described as ‘astounding’.

The inaugural winner of this prize is Matthew Fowler for his curiously named image Graceful Slug.

The organisers challenge the public to come and view the photogaph, saying: “If you don’t think a slug can be graceful you really ought to come and see for yourself.”

The museum opened as a volunteer-run operation in October 1993 and its exhibits cover local history through collections of artefacts, documents, maps and works of art. A wide range of local records can be viewed at the Museum’s Local Studies Centre.
