A local charity welcomed a very special guest to Harpenden to celebrate its sixth year of raising funds.
The charity’s programme manager in Uganda, Richard Okotel, has spent six weeks in the town to visit various schools and community groups that support the project.
During the visit Mr Okotel thanked groups for the initiatives they’ve undertaken to raise valuable funds.
He said: "It’s so important to communicate our accomplishments to the people who work so hard to raise money to help us."
One school he visited was Brookmans Park School to thank them for raising £3,000 for the cause.
Children and staff raised the cash for a new borehole for Musoto Primary School in Bungokho, Uganda.
He also stopped in at Mandeville Primary school in St Albans where he was presented with a cheque for £300.
Headteacher Amanda Godfrey said: "Everyone had great fun and were delighted with the total raised.
"To hear the funding would be buying 15 goats was very exciting."
Since launching in 2007, the charity has raised funds to support communities in Uganda.
