A Bushey school pupil has won a BBC competition for a piece of music she composed.
Lucinda Rimmer, a year 10 student at Purcell School, in Aldenham Road, is one of five young composers to win the BBC Proms Inspire Young Composers’ Competition.
Lucinda joined the music school in 2012, on a scholarship funded by the Government’s Music and Dance Scheme, to study the oboe and harpsichord.
Her piece was inspired by pyramids in Egypt and uses traditional Egyptian music techniques and sounds.
The composition will be played by the Aurora Orchestra at the Young Composers’ Concert at the Royal College of Music on Wednesday, August 7.
