Students at an Enfield college have completed a healthy eating programme to help educate young people to become more active.

The college of Harringey, Enfield and North East London’s Health and Social Care has been teaching students the ‘Eat better Move more’ programme to make teenagers become more active and eat better.

The pupils took part in workshops about exercise, takeaways, healthy snacks, food labels and making better food choices.

As a result of their work, they produced a six-minute ‘Eat better Move more’ podcast targeting 16 to 19-year-olds about how small alterations in their diet can produce massive differences.

Health and care student Dionne Mungombe, 18, said: “It was very interesting to learn about healthy eating and how what we eat and do now will affect us later in life. It’s a great knowledge to have and definitely something I’ll be sharing with my family and friends.”

Vice principal of curriculum and learner experience Jane O’Neill said: “This project raised awareness among students in a fun and creative way, and is something they will benefit from for the rest of their lives.”
