A hospice for people with life-limiting illnesses held a special tea party to pay tribute to its dedicated team of volunteers.

The group was showered with cake and tea to say thank you for the time and effort they give to North London Hospice in Barrowell Green, Winchmore Hill.

Debbie Usiskin, volunteer transition leader at the hospice said: “As a community based hospice we benefit from the involvement of hundreds of people from the local community in what we do and this helps to provide the home from home atmosphere on which we pride ourselves.

“On behalf of the staff, patients, families and friends we would like to thank each and every volunteer that helps us to continue to provide our services.”

The hospice, which also has a site in Barnet, is supported by 900 volunteers.

One of those volunteers is Eileen Kelly who said: “I find this work very rewarding and fulfilling. The teams of staff working within the hospice are such a dedicated team that it is a privilege to be part of it.

“The atmosphere is dignified and cheerful and they offer a very high standard of care. Volunteers are always very much appreciated.”
