A temporary library is up and running while work is underway to build a library, GP surgery, dentists and community hall in Enfield Lock.

The building in Ordnance Road will replace Ordnance Road Library in Hertford Road until the new centre, with all the facilities under one roof, is due to be complete next year.

Councillor Bambos Charalambous, Enfield Borough Council’s cabinet member for leisure and cultural services, said: “The temporary library is a light airy modern space offering most of the services that local people expect.

“In just two weeks work has progressed smoothly with the installation of heating, toilets, phones, carpets and furniture, computers for public use and over 5,000 items to borrow plus newspapers and periodicals.”

The temporary library is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9am to 8pm; Friday 9am to 5.30pm; and Saturday 9am to 5pm. It is closed on Sundays and Wednesdays.
