Mums who met on a business networking site threw caution to the wind when they jumped from 14,000 feet for charity.

Dai Alford, Charlotte Smith and Martha Ferguson raised more than £4,000 by skydiving for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, a charity which supports children from north London with serious illnesses.

Mother-of-two Ms Alford, who runs Tatty Bumpkin baby activity and yoga classes in Winchmore Hill, said Sunday's jump was the scariest thing she had ever done, but wanted to do her bit to raise money for an “amazing” charity.

The 40-year-old, who lives in Grange Park, said: "I have two children and yoga makes you very mindful of what we have got.

“Noah’s Ark looks after children that are never going to get better - that’s every mum’s absolute nightmare so I just thought I should do something.”

The hair-raising stunt seems to have given her a taste of fundraising, as Ms Alford is considering climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania next year for charity.

The group met on website Love Your Doorstep, which connects businesses in the area and encourages people to make the most of what is on the borough’s high streets.
