A teenager killed when he fell from scaffolding will be remembered during a special service today.

Alfie Perrin, 16, from Enfield, died on November 14 last year after he fell from a house he was working on in Camden Road in Wanstead.

Alfie was treated by paramedics before being airlifted to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, but later died of head injuries.

The service, in the Water Treatment Works in Coppermill Lane in Waltham Forest at 11.30am, will be held by members of Waltham Forest Trades Council, which supports unions, campaigners and relatives of people killed at work and lobbies the Government to improve safety standards.

The annual service will also remember Raymond Holmes who died on April 20, 2010 at the works in Coppermill Lane, and 55-year-old Andrezej Rokita, 55, from Poland, who was killed by falling materials while working in Waltham Forest.

Darren O'Grady, secretary of Waltham Forest Trades Council, said: "The United Nations say there are more people killed at work every year than those killed by war and that the majority of these workplace deaths are predictable, preventable and caused by negligent employers.

“That is why every year we mark April 28 by remembering those killed at and by work, and recommitting to the fight to stop the damage work does."
