A young mother determined to change people’s views is due to premiere a documentary she made to banish negative attitudes.

Mother-of-two Yvonne Omini, from Enfield Lock, will show her motivational show, called Live with Purpose – Empowering Young Mums, at South London YMCA in Stockwell on Thursday.

The 24-year-old single mum worked with youth charity Fixers to create the film, which she hopes will inspire others to reach their potential and take control of their lives.

She said: “I want to get rid of that negative mentality of ‘as a teenage mother your life is over’ because that certainly isn’t true. I believe it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. Having a baby young is not the end.”

Ms Omini fell pregnant with her daughter Jaeda at the age of 17 and with her son Kaylan a year later. She gave birth to him one month before her 19th birthday.

She will give a motivational seminar to the audience after showing her work.

Fixers supports people aged between 16 and 25 in taking action against any issue they feel strongly about in order to bring positive change.

The event will run between 1pm and 6pm.
