Couple escape house fire in Edmonton

A man and woman escaped as a fire ripped through their home this morning.

Twenty firefighters were called to tackle the blaze in Rays Road, Edmonton at 8.53am.

Paramedics treated the woman for smoke inhalation at the scene, but she did not need hospital treatment.

The fire was under control just before 9.30am, but the ground floor was left severely damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
