Social club launched at Enfield Borough Council's Disability Resource Centre for young disabled adults
Disabled young adults enjoyed an afternoon of fun at a new monthly social club.
The sessions, aimed at people aged 18 to 30 with physical disabilities and sensory impairment, launched on Saturday at Enfield Borough Council’s Disability Resource Centre in Bush Hill Park.
The first workshop saw people take part in a dance lesson run by Chase Side-based dancers EN2 Krew, as well as table tennis tournaments and Wii sessions.
Future outings, including trips to the theatre, pub quizzes and restaurants will be organised, along with presentations by guest speakers about health, benefits, education and relationships.
Councillor Don McGowan, cabinet member for adult services, care and health, said: “There is a need for this social group. It fills a gap for many young people who have a disability and provides opportunities for important social interaction.
“I am delighted that this new group has the commitment of our adult services and that a full programme is planned up to mid June.”
The sessions will run on the second Saturday of every month.
