Traders enjoyed a strong turnout during a new monthly market which opened its doors for the first time in Enfield Lock.

More than 20 traders sold their wares during The Village Market in James Lee Square in Enfield Island Village on Saturday, with children enjoying a bouncy castle as well as arts and crafts stalls.

People braved the cold to buy goods including fresh bread and cakes sold during the four-hour market.

Organiser Ana Remigio said: “The traders were all happy with the turnout – it wasn’t huge – we didn’t have hundreds and hundreds of people, but still it was the first one and I think it went quite well.”

The next market is due to be held on April 13, with plans to hold the event every month if Enfield Borough Council agrees to issue a licence.
