Competition was fierce during a nail-biting dance-off in Enfield Island Village on Saturday.

More than 150 people turned out to cheer on 12 people fighting to win the competition in the community centre in Island Centre Way.

Although planning to pick one winner, the standard was so high judges split the £400 prize between nine-year-old Kallian Pringle and 13-year-old Zhane Coffi-Gowie who dazzled the crowds with their moves.

Martine Eni, community development coordinator at the village, said: “The look in these people’s eyes was unbelievable.  They were not joking, they all took it very seriously – it was like the X Factor.

“We had so many people in the hall, we were packed to the rafters.”

Approximately 100 people strutted their stuff during free dance workshops during the day, which included zumba, pole dance and street dance.

Ms Eni said the event -  financed through Enfield Borough Council's residents' priority fund - was such a success, she hopes to organise it again next year.
