Help is needed to identify football players captured in photographs taken almost 100 years ago.

The historic pictures have been unearthed as part of a project to gather memories and memorabilia of football in Enfield over the ages.

Enfield Town Football Club is working with charities Enfield Age UK and The Beth Johnson Foundation to record people's stories of the sport in the borough.

The project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, will be recorded in an exhibition which will tour Enfield once it is complete.

The first photograph was taken between 1920 and 1921 of players taking part in the Middlesex Charity Cup. Although players Charlie Green, 'Admiral' Banning, Bob Lizzimore and Bill Hewitt have been identified, the rest remain a mystery.

The group also needs help identifying players from a reserve match during the 1923 to 1924 season, and in a picture taken from the 1931 to 1932 season, which includes first team and reserve players.

If anyone could shed any light on the matter, or if they have any pictures to contribute, contact grahamfrostenf@hotmail.co.uk or visit Enfield Local Studies Library and Archive in the Dugdale Centre in London Road in Enfield Town.
