Green-fingered gardeners are enjoying the sweet taste of success after helping London win gold in a horticultural competition.
Twelve plants from Myddelton House Gardens in Bull’s Cross were picked to form part of the Plant Heritage London Group's exhibit at this year’s Royal Horticultural Society London Plant and Design Show.
The prize-winning species were planted with early cut flowering plants, trees and shrubs grown throughout London.
The impressive display dazzled judges, who rewarded the floral exhibit with a gold award.
Trainee gardener Ruth Gomez Martin, who collected the cuts, said: “This was my first experience of selecting plant material from the gardens and presenting it for exhibition at the RHS. It was so exciting and I am thrilled we won this prestigious gold medal.”
Plants including green lantern, Bowles’ early sulphur and Lady Elphistone were taken from Myddelton House Gardens for the judges to inspect.
