Flytipper caught red-handed in Durants Park
5:30pm Monday 25th February 2013 in News By Hermione Wright
Treating a park "like a dustbin" has cost a flytipper £80.
Enfield’s park police launched an undercover operation in Durants Park in Enfield Highway following a series of complaints about rubbish blighting the area.
The culprit, in his late 30s, was caught red-handed on Wednesday evening when he was spotted dumping carrier bags of rubbish near the park’s entrance.
Officers, funded by Enfield Borough Council, approached him and issued him with the fine.
The cabinet member for environment, Councillor Chris Bond, said: "We do not tolerate people who treat our parks like dustbins and I'm delighted this individual has been caught and punished.
“This will deter him from future illegal behaviour and means Durants Park can continue to be enjoyed as a safe and pleasant environment for the entire community to enjoy free for litter and other mess."
