The planter outside The George is due to be removed next month
Plants will be uprooted outside a pub in Enfield Town to prevent anti-social behaviour.
Enfield Borough Council is due to remove the greenery outside The George in The Town next month following concerns from shoppers and business owners.
The authority hopes removing the planter will stop people hanging around on the benches and causing trouble in the area, which is not covered by CCTV cameras.
The cabinet member for environment, Councillor Chris Bond, said: "We have had a number of complaints over the years that the planter in the town centre acts as a beacon for anti-social behaviour and undesirable elements who put shoppers off visiting that part of the town so we've decided to do something about it."
He said removing the planter will make the town look smarter, as well as making it easier to maintain, and it is a “good way” to encourage shoppers to use Enfield shops during tough financial times.
The area will be repaved to match the rest of the area, and the council is looking at ways to use the space in an “innovative and creative” way.
