Friends of Enfield Playing Fields planted 100 trees on Friday
Playing fields have been spruced up thanks to some hard work from volunteers.
More than 20 Friends of Enfield Playing Fields worked together on Friday to plant 100 new trees in the open space in Great Cambridge Road.
The native trees, which include hazel, wild cherry and silver birch, will provide a much-needed habitat for birds and insects while adding some colour to the Southbury park.
The friends group applied for a free community tree pack from the Woodland Trust as part of the charity’s Jubilee Woods project, which marked the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by planting 6million trees across the UK.
Members are waiting to find out from Enfield Borough Council if their residents' priority fund application for cash to plant more trees and a wild flower meadow in the playing fields has been successful.
