A coroner has revealed a student hit by a train last week died of multiple injuries.

Sixteen-year-old engineering student William Davis, who was known as Charlie, was struck by a train on the level crossing at Cheshunt station on Tuesday just after 2pm.

A post-mortem at Hertfordshire Coroner's Court in Hatfield revealed today that the Hertford Regional College student’s death was due to multiple injuries.

An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned today.

Paramedics were called to the scene, but the former Highlands School student was pronounced dead at the scene.

Charlie had been part of the 5th Southgate Scout Group in Winchmore Hill for ten years.
