Trouble arose this morning when a tree collapsed and blocked a busy route to a primary school.
The vast tree blew over during last night’s heavy winds and stopped travel through Theobalds Park Road in North Enfield.
Staff from St John’s Church of England Primary School, which is in the road, texted parents early today to alert them to the blockage and to explain they were aware some pupils may be late.
Enfield Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Councillor Chris Bond, said: "We were alerted to the tree fall outside St John’s School and deployed workmen to clear the blockage which was removed earlier today.
"Thankfully no one was injured in this incident but we'll be keeping a close eye on the borough's trees during this period of high wind and making sure any further falls are dealt with quickly and effectively."
