A teenager charged with raping an 11-year-old girl in a park on her way home from school is due to appear in court today.

Opemipo Jaji, 18, of Osward Place in Edmonton, has been called to Lewes Crown Court in East Sussex where he could enter his plea.

The victim was walking in Galliards Road on November 23 when she was approached by a man and dragged into Jubilee Park in Edmonton and raped.

Mr Jaji has been remanded in custody since he was charged on November 29 with the rape and attempted rape of a girl under 13.

The trial date has been provisionally set for April 10 this year.
