Robbers who punched a shopkeeper before trying to steal a cash machine have been jailed for 18 months.
Christopher Egan, 21, of no fixed address, and 22-year-old Sam Firoozy, of Lincoln Way in Southbury, burst into the newsagents in Uckfield Road in Enfield Lock with a 17-year-old boy at 5.30pm on August 9 2011.
Firoozy leant over the counter to grab the till, and both men were involved in a stuggle which resulted in the shopkeeper being punched in the nose when he tried to protect the machine.
Unable to free the till, the men fled empty-handed towards Albany Park playing fields.
Police arrived shortly after the bodged robbery and stopped the men, who matched the descriptions given, in Ordnance Road, arresting the three for attempted robbery.
On July 5 last year, Egan and Firoozy were charged with attempted robbery and appeared at Enfield Magistrates Court the following day.
The pair pleaded guilty when they appeared at Wood Green Crown Court on Thursday, January 24 and were each jailed for 18 months.
No charges were brought against the 17-year-old.
