Practice makes perfect is the motto for two ballroom hopefuls aiming to score a perfect ten in next month’s Dancing Strictly competition in aid of North London Hospice.

Friends Tom McClorry, 42, and Thelia Farago, 54, hope their “fast-moving” cha cha will not only impress judges in next month’s competition, but also raise a lot of cash for the charity.

Feeling the nerves Thelia, of Palmers Green, said: “I’m getting slightly stressed about the routine – to be honest, I’m pretty terrified really.

“But being able to enter a competition like this is really great. When my mum died I had firsthand experience of the kind of support a hospice can provide – not only for the person suffering but for the whole family.”

Tom and Thelia are one of 12 couples who take part in the Strictly Come Dancing themed event at the Millfield Theatre in Edmonton on Saturday February 9.

Hoping they can pull it off on the night, Tom of North Finchley, said: “It’s a bit frustrating when you get the moves wrong but we’re getting there slowly but surely.

"Come the big night I’m sure we’ll have mastered it. We’ll just keep practising and practising until we get there.”

As well as rehearsing the couple also has to raise at least £500 for the hospice which supports people with life-limiting illnesses.
