Temperatures dropped to minus three in Barnet yesterday and gritting lorries were out overnight covering priority one routes.

Recycling collections were affected on Friday because of the snow and crews are due to be out again today, starting with the backlog from Friday's missed pick-ups.

All school transport run by Barnet Council has been cancelled this morning due to slippery conditions off the main roads.

Barnet Council has so far confirmed 41 of the borough's 89 primary schools are closed today, with nine opening late.

Manorside Primary in Finchley Central is partially closed because of a faulty boiler.

Eight of 22 secondary schools in Barnet are also shut because of the adverse weather conditions.

Ashmole, Hasmonean and Queen Elizabeth's Girls secondary schools are all closed but will open for pupils taking exams.
