Blockbuster goes into administration putting jobs at risk

More high street jobs are at risk following the announcement DVD rental chain Blockbuster UK has gone into administration.

Staff at the branch in Station Parade, Southgate, have been left waiting for further news about the company, which has 4,190 staff in 528 stores around the country.

Blockbuster has been hit hard in recent years with the rise of internet film rental companies.

Accountancy firm Deloitte has been appointed as administrator and taken over the running of the company. It says stores will remain open while it tries to find a buyer for the company.

The news comes after music retailer HMV went into administration on Monday.
