Handbags seized in Enfield 'fake' fashion raid
1:00pm Friday 11th January 2013 in News By Hermione Wright
Fake fashion was under the spotlight this week.
Staff from high-end fashion brands including Louis Vuitton joined police and Enfield Borough Council trading standards officers to raid a property in Enfield where counterfeit goods were suspected to have been delivered.
A person was arrested after the raid and a stash of handbags were seized from the property for inspection.
The council is examining evidence to decide whether to prosecute the people involved.
Cabinet Member for Environment, Councillor Chris Bond, said: "The sale of counterfeit goods funds serious organised crimes and has a negative effect on legitimate businesses operating in our borough.
"We will not hesitate to take action against the gangs and individuals acting illegally, this raid shows we will not tolerate criminals operating in our borough and we'll work with our partners to clampdown on counterfeiting wherever we find it."
