A flat has been badly damaged during a fire in Palmers Green.

Twenty firefighters in four fire engines were called to Alderman’s Hill at 3.40pm and spent just over an hour tackling the fire in a top floor flat.

No one was inside the flat at the time.

However an ambulance, a paramedics car and a hazardous response vehicle were called just before 4pm as a precaution.

Alderman's Hill was closed past Palmers Green Station while the emergency services attended.

Police redirected drivers along Derwent Road until the scene was cleared.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
