Controversial plans to grant an entertainment licence to a park in Enfield were approved yesterday.
The proposals were debated by a licensing sub-committee at Enfield Borough Council and granted the licence which will allow events to be hosted in Chase Side Park between 7am and 11pm every day.
The all-day hearing included an hour and a half of deliberation before councillors granted the licence.
Each event will need further permission from the authority before it can take place, but the proposals met strong opposition from people living near the park and some councillors expressed their disappointment.
Councillor Joanne Laban said: βTo disregard the views of local people like this is not only short-sighted, but also undemocratic. Unfortunately, local residents will now have to endure the legacy of this ill-conceived idea.β
