Owner of Pizza Line in Kendal Parade in Edmonton hopes to reopen following cockroach clear-up
The manager of a pizzeria ordered to close due to a cockroach infestation is confident it will reopen today.
Pizza Line in Kendal Parade, Edmonton was closed immediately when Enfield Borough Council environmental health inspectors paid an unexpected visit on November 28 following a tip-off from a member of the public.
The owners were forced to pay £879 in costs to the council and clean up before inspectors today paid another visit to check the fast-food outlet was no longer infested.
Owner Ahmed Yazpanah told the Enfield Independent today that the restaurant has been cleaned and is now cockroach-free.
He said: “It’s gone. We have used spray, we used so many things. We are waiting for the inspector. People won’t have to worry.”
The council’s cabinet member for environment, Councillor Chris Bond, said: “We will not tolerate people operating filthy pest-infested restaurants in our borough that endanger the health of our residents and will take prompt action against them wherever we find them.
“We will continue to work with restaurants to raise hygiene standards and ensure the people of Enfield know they can dine in safety. But we’ll take swift action against those premises which cannot or will not comply with hygiene laws.”
