5:40pm Monday 29th October 2012 in News By Hermione Wright
A man who threatened a bus driver after refusing to pay his fare has been jailed for eight months.
Drease Dolan, 22, of Springfield Road in Tottenham, boarded a 329 bus at Genotin Road in Enfield Town on May 4 last year.
The driver asked for his fare but Dolan threatened him and an elderly passenger before getting off the bus.
Police identified Dolan through CCTV on the bus and arrested him at his home on September 2 2011 before charging him with affray.
He was found guilty on Tuesday, October 16 at Wood Green Crown Court.
Steve Burton, director of community safety, enforcement and policing for Surface Transport said: “Our staff have the absolute right to work without fear or attack. This was an extremely dangerous act that could have lead to a serious injury. The criminal deserved this custodial sentence.
“Although the network is a low-crime environment and these attacks are thankfully rare, we will continue to work with our policing partners and pursue those people who attack our staff, pushing for the harshest possible penalty.”
