Bogus callers target Edmonton pensioners

Bogus callers targeted two pensioners on Saturday.
A man knocked on the door of an 89-year-old woman at lunchtime in St Edmunds Road in Edmonton.
He claimed he was working next door and had accidently damaged her back garden gate.
The suspect, who is white and approximately 30 years old, went inside to show her the damage and offered to carry out work in her garden.
Once he had gone, the pensioner realised her purse had been stolen.
At 5.30pm, a man and a woman knocked on the door of a property in College Close in Upper Edmonton.
They told a 76-year-old woman they needed to turn the water off because they were installing a washing machine in an upstairs flat.
The pensioner realised shortly after they had left that they had stolen cash and jewellery.
The 5ft 10ins white woman wearing a white top and white trousers. The man was also white with a white shirt and blue trousers.
